Samphire belongs to the Apiaceae family. It is a perennial, rhizomatous
halophyte (resistant to salts), with shoots which reach a height of 20-50 cm. The
linear upright or lateral shoots are woody at their base and branch at the top.
The leaves are smooth, fleshy and multifaceted. The harvest takes place from
June to September. It is considered a herb with diuretic activity, and with
beneficial properties for the blood the liver.
